The only way to TRULY find top dead center and get your timing wheel indexed for perfect ignition timing.  It screws in through an access hole in the crankcases, rear of the cylinder.

This is a unique tool in STAINLESS STEEL that is SAE threaded on one end, British thread on the other.  It should work on all unit twins, to my knowledge, perhaps earlier?
